The owners of Bergkvist-Insjön AB and Siljan Group AB have decided to create a strong joint wood processing group, based in the Swedish Dalecarlia region. The Bergkvist family, which has been a devoted and active owner over four generations, will remain as significant shareholder in the joint company.

– We are proud to complete a transaction that safeguards the long-term prosperity of our wood processing business in Insjön, says Ulf Bergkvist, Chairman of Bergkvist-Insjön. Bergkvist-Insjön and Siljan complement each other, both in terms of product range and markets. Together we also possess a significant wood sourcing organization in the region, which will benefit forest owners as well as other stakeholders in the industry.

– I look forward to working together with Bergkvist-Insjön, says Jon Hansson, CEO of Siljan Group AB. We are both local companies with deep roots in the region and the cultural fit is great. This transaction gives us confidence for the future and is good news for our customers, suppliers and employees.

Bergkvist-Insjön AB was founded in Insjön in 1925 by Ulf Bergkvist’s grandfather, Axel Bergkvist, and has since developed into a SEK 1.5 billion company with approx. 200 employees. Siljan Group AB was founded in Mora in 1897 and has a turnover of SEK 1.4 billion and approx. 200 employees.

– This deal is a great opportunity to create a competitive wood processing company in an area with high quality raw material, says Anders Nilsson, CEO of Bergkvist-Insjön, who will take on the role as Group CEO of the joint company Bergkvist-Siljan.

The transaction is conditioned on approval from the relevant competition authorities and is expected to close during the summer. The new group will be formed under the autumn and until then the businesses of Bergkvist-Insjön and Siljan will carry on as usual. The new company, Bergkvist-Siljan, will form a strong partner and continue to develop the business with existing and new customers.

Sales and market activities will be handled as per usual in each company respectively.
